Position Summary
The Career and Technical Education Business Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging instruction that prepares students for careers in business ownership, marketing, and related fields. This position supports Weldon High School’s commitment to providing students with real-world skills, hands-on learning experiences, and foundational knowledge needed to pursue postsecondary education, workforce opportunities, and entrepreneurship pathways.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Foster and manage a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success
- Provide effective daily instruction in CTE Business courses aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and CTE program requirements.
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate project-based learning, real-world applications, and industry-relevant skills.
- Facilitate the development of student-run enterprises, simulations, and entrepreneurial projects.
- Maintain accurate student records including grades, attendance, and progress monitoring in accordance with district and state policies.
- Integrate technology, digital tools, and current industry practices into classroom instruction.
- Establish a classroom environment that supports student engagement, safety, respect, and success.
- Collaborate with the CTE Director, school administrators, and community stakeholders to expand work-based learning and career exploration opportunities.
- Participate in professional development, CTE program activities, and required certification trainings.
- Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative methods; adjust instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
- Support students in preparing for industry-recognized credentials when applicable.
- Maintain program equipment, materials, and resources to ensure a high-quality learning environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of Weldon City Schools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Valid North Carolina Teaching License in Business, Finance, and Information Technology Education or eligibility for CTE licensure based on education and industry experience.
- Prior experience in business, marketing, entrepreneurship, or related industry preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to integrate technology and instructional strategies to enhance student learning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of current trends in entrepreneurship, business planning, marketing, and financial literacy.
- Ability to design hands-on, relevant, and engaging instructional activities.

Work Environment
- Work performed in a traditional school classroom setting.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and perform job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
